a couple notes on the timewalker weekly thats up this week
Posted by: Telonnar-Perenolde - 01-07-2016, 05:29 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (1)

Just a note that the 5x timewalker weekly dungeon quest drops an extra seal for rerolling kazzak or in HFC as well as 500 vp and a normal hfc drop (random). Here is an example of what i do for timewalker gear on my 2nd warrior archonas. I use a few wod pieces with gemslots (cloak, wrist and trinkets etc) but for the rest of his gear i go for the old raid gearsets purchased from dalaran or farmed from ICC with maximum str/crit gems (including BC boots from black temple which are very close to having Wotlk stats due to the stat squish). Due to the scaling and the fact that the gems and enchants are not as affected by the scaling i typically do 37-42 percent of the damage with a build like this (assuming the rest of the party does not gear up to do them). It can turn a chore of running 5 of them into a cakewalk and once you have the set made it will last till the end of the xpac (and be useable for wotlk and bc week quests). <a href=\"http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/perenolde/Archonas/simple\">http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/perenolde/Archonas/simple</a>

A Tale of Two SCs: Santa Claus and Sleeper Cartel
Posted by: Darias-Perenolde - 12-15-2015, 10:12 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (11)

Yesterday, my wife was dropping off some packages at the post office and she was behind a lady who was bringing in a TON of packages. She had a little hand truck with the packages strapped in with bungee cords and as the line moved, she tipped it back inched forward, and settled the cart back down. She\'d definitely done it before.

As my wife is prone to striking up conversations with random strangers, she commented on the lady\'s skill and asked if she was sending things to family for the holidays.
<div style=\"margin-left: 2em;\"><i>\"Nope. Care packages for soldiers.\"</i></div>
The lady went on to tell how nowadays most soldiers only get two hot meals a day. In true military fashion, those meals are at strict times a day, and whether you slept in or were out on base on orders doing something, if you\'re late for chow...you don\'t eat. Realizing this is the case all too often, this lady puts together packages for the soldiers and sends them off to her husband\'s unit.

We as Sleeper Cartel used to do charities -- particularly at Christmastime -- quite frequently. We haven\'t done one in a long, long time. We happen to have a lot of former military members (and/or their families) as guild members. As there are always entirely too many soldiers, sailors, and airmen no where even close to home, I think this is a good chance for us to do some good IRL.

<h4>Options for Charities</h4><hr>
Now, the one the lady above uses is <a href=\"http://anysoldier.com/\">Any Solder</a> because you can literally send it to a specific solder and/or their unit. If it was that we had a guildie who was stationed, I would definitely use this one. However, they do have a <a href=\"http://anysoldier.com/HelpDonate.cfm#donate\">donation page for generic donations</a>, but they just don\'t take PayPal. If it came down to it, we could shuffle money back and forth from PayPal to my account and I could pay it...but there\'s like a week delay in doing that.

Next option I found elsewhere was <a href=\"http://soldiersangels.org/about-us\">Soldiers\' Angels</a>. I like this one almost more <a href=\"http://soldiersangels.org/angel-bakers.html\">for my own business</a> than even for the guild, but it still has merits. They seem a bit more wide-reaching and have a large variety of services they provide both home (vets perhaps in a VA hospital) as well as abroad.

Of course there is also the <a href=\"https://usowishbook.uso.org/?_ga=1.199134383.1442490939.1450208763\">USO Donation options</a>, <a href=\"https://www.operationgratitude.com/sponsorcarepackages\">Operation Gratitude</a>, or even non-care package based things like <a href=\"http://www.militaryfamilyvoices.us/content/why-world-get-involved#/step1/cash/credit\">Military Family Voices</a> (grab a tissue for that one).

Last weekend Siddhi, Lux and I were talking about the fact that we should do Secret Santa, but nowadays...shopping in-game is tough. Armies of alts, garrisons, and ultra-high-level farming ease makes it hard to figure out what to even ASK for much less find for that person who doesn\'t give an idea.

We need to get back to doing stuff IRL. It\'s been entirely too long since we\'ve done that. That\'s what Sleepers really got to be known for, giving back to the community...in game and outside.

Speak up Sleepers. Let us know which you\'d like to do first. <b><u>I\'d like to have the donations to be due in to PayPal no later than next week on the 23rd</u></b>. Tight, I know...but we should have time to gather things up.

After thinking about it, I\'ve decided to go with Operation Gratitude. They offered the most variety of donations (active duty and veterans as well), specifically care packages as part of their organiztion, and they accepted PayPal donations.

Please use the link below to make your donations. They can be of any amount. I\'m extending the deadline for donations to Saturday 12/26 (and will remind anyone who\'s on for GN that evening as well).

Thank you in advance for however much you can contribute to the men and women of our armed forces, here, abroad, past and present.

So please note it is this Saturday for guild night an hour earlier than we are used to.

  guild night ideas for tonight
Posted by: Telonnar-Perenolde - 10-17-2015, 04:24 AM - Forum: General Chat - No Replies

for guild night tonight if there isnt anything scheduled id like to suggest the following.

1) \"penitent\" achievement in firelands take 2 on 25 (need 6) or 10 (need 2). quite a few people need this - we gave it a good try but found out timing via voicechat is critical. If someone has a save right before this that would be great but not required. Firelands goes pretty fast.

2) Help me do the blood infusion quest on queen lanathel for the legendary quest in ICC. I have the instance saved on 25 man heroic right before it. we can also do a quick run up to the lich king for the mount. (since its just 3 fights beyond that). heroic gear from icc is nice for timewalker as well (lots of gem slots)

3) Ultraxion to deathwing run in dragon soul on heroic 25 (I have an instance saved just prior to ultraxion). The end weapons are quite nice for timewalker dungeons.

I have a friend (kror-perenolde ) I might want to summon for number 3. His internet is touch and go this weekend as hes traveling
but he might be able to handle the end fight in dragonsoul

I also posted this on facebook.

Merging Wort / Let it reform later
Posted by: Telonnar-Perenolde - 09-23-2015, 04:14 PM - Forum: Raids: WoRT: Wipe on Raid Trash - Replies (1)

Since there are not enough sleepers (especially dps and heals) at the moment to support two raid groups and several have already joined the sunday/tuesday raid, Im suggesting the members of wort join the sunday/tuesday raid. It doesnt make sense to try to continue. If others want to reform wort feel free. Ive been wanting to join a 2 night per week sleepers raid group since I joined sleepers (as I feel its the only way to progress at a decent rate). We havent had enough people the last month anyways. Weve lost more raiders since the patch than weve gained returnees. (I feel the early annoucement for Legion and the flight PR debacle at blizzard killed interest in the last patch)

A few people want to raid and question whether they are good enough. I dont feel thats the issue. We just dont have enough players playing in the guild often enough (to have alternates etc in case someone cant make it).

Re: my own take on raiding - its not so much a matter of being good enough but it does take a reasonable amount of time that some people dont have. My friend Darksmoke/Kror who plays wow casually propably could not do it (except as an alternate perhaps) due to his job and home situation. His DPS is fine in pvp and pve as enhancement shammy but Ive been helping him with enchants which he otherwise would not be able to make or farm easily. I cant do that for everyone as its been eating up a fair amount of my own supplies. Everything takes time and raid prep is no different. Having 5 enchanters is a bit silly but its been very helpful being able to make 5 purple shards a day for free when i need to.

Ill keep working on a bunch of my 680ish alts to help out in case wort or another raid group reforms. Also if people want to learn a new class/spec im willing to level a toon with you to help out. I have lowbies from 15 all the way up to max. Its surprisingly easy to level alts now. (only the latest xpac is slower to level in) I also have 4-5 tanks locked at various levels.

  2nd acct alts
Posted by: Telonnar-Perenolde - 09-17-2015, 05:39 AM - Forum: General Chat - No Replies

Ill be moving a couple of my recently reactivated 2nd account alts (Immyria, Schlock, Grumpycat etc) to my returning friend Darksmoke\'s private guild \"The Shadow Company\". It will make it easier to mail him mats and to chat etc and see which alt he is on. I only reactivated the account to pvp some with him using the low level alts and to help him level his new elemental shamans. We might work on getting the other 2-3 members of my pnp gaming group to try wow on this server (one has played before and another played everquest). None of them seem interested in joining a large guild at the moment although I will keep promoting SC (at least for their mains etc).

I told guild management several months ago that the 2nd account alts could be booted anyways as I wasnt using them at the time.

All my 90s/100s on perenolde and my cairne horde and alliance lowbies off my main account will stay in sleeper cartel/mystic cartel. Just thought Id give you all a headsup.

  Looking for volunteers

I\'d like to hold a short vigil on the Stormwind gate towers tonight, probably at 9 server. It might be a bit later depending how dark it is in SW. I need people with elune stones or there equivalent so we can set up a tower of light on each tower.

This is in rememberance of September 11, 2001

And if someone wants to post this on the FB page, that would be nice. I don\'t have access at work.

  Raid Guide Ive Been reading
Posted by: Telonnar-Perenolde - 09-09-2015, 08:06 AM - Forum: Raids: WoRT: Wipe on Raid Trash - Replies (1)

<a href=\"http://www.worldofmoudi.com/hellfire-citadel-boss-guides\">http://www.worldofmoudi.com/hellfire-citadel-boss-guides</a>

Ive setup the first 3 bosses as a series of raid warning text macros. As we progress further in Ill set up the others as needed. In the past weve only gotten that far.

For the first boss, ranged and/or dps will run the ammunition to the cannons depending on raid composition (how many ranged we have etc).

We may be a bit short this evening. If we end up short handed again, Id suggest running as a group through the apexis zones to gear up alts as a pack (or skipping till next week).
Several people are working on gearing up alts to help us but they may not be there yet gearwise.

  Guild night 09.5.2015
Posted by: Luxury-Perenolde - 09-04-2015, 07:59 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (1)

There is an event page for this, but I wanted to make sure others seen it who don\'t travel there.

I propose doing a mount and critter run for guild night.
The purpose is to get people pets they may not have obtained yet or (hopefully) some harder to get mounts.
I will start with two runs for this week to make sure we don\'t go over guild time and see how we do.

Karazhan can be our first stop. It\'s a longer raid so we can judge our time after this.
Mount: Fiery Warhorse\'s Reins off Attumen The Huntsman
Pets: Lil\' Bad Wolf off The Big Bad Wolf (Opera Event), Menagerie Custodian off The Curator, Fiendish Imp off Terestian Illhoof, and Nethersapce Abyssal off Prince Malchezaar.

Tempest Keep can be our second stop:
Mounts: Ashes of Al\'ar off Kael\'thas
Pets: Phoenix Hawk Hatchling off Al\'ar, Pocket Reaver off Void Reaver, and Lesser Voidcaller off High Astromancer Solarian

I\'ll bring along my Alterac Brew-Pup for free drinks while we run to add to the fun.

If we have time after these raids I say we end guild nights in general with a naked dance party in Stormwind or Stromsheild. (can be discussed in vent). This will draw attention to us as a guild and we may be able to recruit a few people. If we do this weekly, people will notice. Please bring out things from your toy box to add to this. :p

So...how\'s the game and guild for you?
Posted by: Darias-Perenolde - 09-04-2015, 07:10 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (5)

It\'s hard to believe that\'s barely been a year and a half when I posted about the <a href=\"http://www.sleepercartel.com/index.php?Topic=15801\">End of Expansion Blahs for MoP</a> and to find out now we\'re back at the same point now. Yes, I know that there are some inherent issues with how Blizzard handled things with garrisons, flying, and end game content.

But this isn\'t a Warcraft complaint thread...because it\'s not like Blizzard is listening.

How are things actually going for you in-game? While the game content (and the lack thereof) sometimes can have people pull away from the guild, is there anything that the guild is / isn\'t doing to help you stay in the game?

A lot of the time, I log on and people have their nose to the grindstone. They\'re staring at their garrison screen. They\'re out doing their dailies in Tanaan Jungle. On the rare occasion, they might be leveling an alt. The guild itself is by no means <i>dead</i>, but it\'s also lost a bit of it\'s vitality. Unless a few spirited few of you are on -- and you social butterflies know who you are -- the channel is kinda...quiet.

Guild nights, once a staple in the guild for us to relax have kinda devolved to us sitting in Vent and talking. Now, there\'s nothing wrong from a social standpoint in the guild, and as much as Stein, Sid, Tel, Myrli, Vice, the Professor, Mary Anne, and I enjoy each other\'s company...we\'d love to find Other Things To Do. In fact, I\'d absolutely be overjoyed if someone was willing to take up Canziz\'s role of organizing guild night. Someone who\'d plan ahead, come up with an idea, post it on the scrawl, so we\'re not all sitting in channel saying, \"Well, what are we going to do tonight?\"...on through 7:30 server time and beyond.

So, speak up. If there\'s something you want more out of the guild let us know. We\'ve got several more months before beta Legion starts, so let\'s make sure our community continues rock-solid into 7.0.
